ZIM America is revising the port rotations of its ZCP (ZIM Container Service Pacific) vessel service to include a stop at the Virginia Port Authority’s APM Portsmouth container facility in the Port of Hampton Roads. It’s scheduled to begin with a June 15 call by the containership ZIM Mediterranean.

The new rotation will be Savannah; Virginia; New York/New Jersey; Halifax; Kingston; Los Angeles; Oakland; Vostochny, Russia; Ningbo, China; Shanghai, China; Pusan, South Korea; Balboa, Panama; Kingston, Jamaica; and Savannah. ZIM’s ZCP service is currently operated by 10 vessels ranging in capacity from 4,800 to 5,000 TEUs.

Norfolk has been home for the Israeli carrier’s U.S. office since 2000.

"This decision provides us a new service offering to/from China and Korea,” said Rodney W. Oliver, PPM®, the VPA’s interim executive director. "ZIM is very strong in furniture commodity segment, which is also our number one import commodity, so we believe there are some excellent synergies there.
