Rickmers-Linie, a regular Port of Philadelphia caller since 2008, will expand its service here with the addition of a Westbound Round-The-World Service that will connect markets in Asia, South America and North America. The new monthly service will commence immediately and will complement Rickmers’ fortnightly Eastbound Round-The-World "Pearl String” service.

Like the earlier service, the westbound service will call at Tioga Marine Terminal, which is operated by Delaware River Stevedores, Inc., under a lease agreement with the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority.

The westbound service also calls the ports of Yokohama (Japan), Masan (South Korea), Xingang (China), Shanghai (China), Singapore, Cape Town (South Africa), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Santos (Brazil), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Vitoria (Brazil), Savannah and Houston.

Rickmers will employ two to three multipurpose heavy-lift vessels in the new service, which will carry mainly project cargoes, such as turbines, machine parts, air exchangers and other large items used in major construction projects.
