Plans are underway for an outstanding Commissioners Seminar, June 4-6, at the Westin Beach Resort & Spa in Ft. Lauderdale. There is no better program for a thorough examination of the role of governing board members, a great source of information for both new and experienced commissioners. The seminar will focus on the port commissioner’s role in challenging economic conditions and an evolving public port setting.

A new session this year will assess the "Outlook for Breakbulk Cargo Markets” with a presentation by James Brennan of Norbridge, Inc. Another panel, "Strategic Asset Management – The Business Case for Improved Capital Infrastructure Management and Investment Strategies,” will explore the motivation for developing improved management techniques for critical assets in the light of seaport experiences. Other panel themes include: "Timely Public Port Governing Board and Management Considerations,” "Planning Your Port’s Role in an Uncertain Future,” "Board Management Relations” and "Legal/Liability Issues for Board Members.” Interactive discussions of established best practices provide an exceptional educational experience for port commissioners and port executives alike.
