San Diego Announces Port Auditor Appointment

Robert M. Monson has been appointed port auditor for the Port of San Diego. Reporting directly to the board of port commissioners, the auditor oversees the port district’s financial and operational audit functions, supports efficient operations, and assures compliance with statutory requirements and accounting standards. Mr. Monson was an internal candidate; he joined the port in 1993 as an auditor and has served as senior auditor for the past 12 years. 

Mr. Monson is a Certified Internal Auditor and Certified Fraud Examiner. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Financial Accounting from National University.

"The board conducted a national search and considered a highly qualified pool of applicants before making this appointment,” said Board Chair Ann Moore. "We were impressed by Bob’s integrity, competence and commitment. The board is confident that he will serve the port well.
