Oxnard Harbor District Commission Vice President Mary Anne Rooney has been named vice president of the Ventura County Special Districts Association. The harbor commission is the governing body of the Port of Hueneme

The Ventura County Special Districts Association has represented more than 20 independently governed special districts in Ventura County since 1974. Special districts are single-purpose entities formed to provide targeted services. The Oxnard Harbor District is one of its members.

Commissioner Rooney works as a business consultant with the Economic Development Collaborative – Ventura County, focusing on connecting manufacturers with resources to strengthen their businesses. She also designed a program to help businesses develop international strategic business plans. She was elected to the harbor commission in November 2010.

The five-member harbor commission is elected at-large by voters throughout the Oxnard Harbor District, which is comprised of the cities of Oxnard, Port Hueneme and nearby, unincorporated beach communities.
