Saint John Port Traffic Jumps in January

Port Saint John reports significant gains in nearly all sectors of port traffic for the month of January 2013, with total throughput up 20 percent from a year ago to 2,573,100 metric tons. Gains were in the following sectors:

Liquid bulk:  2,395,800 tons (+16 percent) Containerized Cargo:  30,000 tons (+28 percent)
Dry bulk:  138,400 tons (+240 percent) Containers: 4,500 TEUs (+10 percent) 
Forest products:  8,100 tons (+4 percent) Vessels Calls:  67 (+26 percent)
These positive trends are encouraging and underscore the efforts of not only the port authority, but everyone who is associated with our Port Saint John team,” commented Jim Quinn, the port authority’s president & CEO.
