Port Metro Vancouver: Craig Neeser Again Elected Port Authority Chair

The board of directors of Port Metro Vancouver has re-elected Craig Neeser chair for another two-year term, commencing March 1, 2013. Mr. Neeser was originally appointed to the board in August 2009 and re-appointed in August 2012.

Mr. Neeser is the former president of Weyerhaeuser Company Ltd. Previously, he was senior vice president with Weyerhaeuser’s International Group, and he was senior vice president, solid wood group, when Weyerhaeuser acquired MacMillan Bloedel. At Weyerhaeuser, he also served as vice president, British Columbia, and later as president, Canada. 

Mr. Nesser has served on the boards of directors of the Council of Forest Industries of British Columbia, University of Alberta (Agriculture and Forestry), Global Forest Partners, Maynards, the Vancouver Aquarium and the Forest Products Association of Canada. He is past chair of the Forest Industrial Relations and of the Coast Forest Lumber Association. He holds a BS in Forestry Management from the University of Alberta and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University.

The port authority board consists of 11 members. They include: one federal appointee; one British Columbia provincial appointee; one appointee for the Prairie Provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba; one municipal appointee; and, seven federal appointees recommended by port users.
