Aruba Cruise Passenger Count Hits Monthly High in January

The Aruba Ports Authority welcomed a record 118,542 passengers in January, a 24.3 percent increase from January 2012. The previous record, 110,363, was set in March 2011, which was also the first month the port’s passenger count exceeded 100,000. This January as well, the port received 64 cruise ship calls and 47,483 cruise ship crew members. Cruise traffic during all of 2012 consisted of 294 ship calls, 582,309 passengers, and 233,327 crew members.

Aruba is served by two cruise terminals, both located within easy walking distance of shops and tourist attractions in the capital of Oranjestad and handy to tour buses for excursions to the island’s beaches, national parks, an aloe vera factory and other exotic locations. Among its client cruise lines are Aida, Carnival, Celebrity, Fred Olsen, Holland America, Majestic, P&O Cruises, Princess, Pullmantur, Royal Caribbean and Wind Star.
