Domingo Chinea Barrera, president of Sociedad Portuaria Regional de Santa Marta S.A., was elected president of AAPA's Latin American Ports Delegation during the 31st LATAM Convention of Ports held in Barranquilla, Colombia, in December. President Barrera will chair the Latin American delegation for a one-year term ending in December 2024.

Barrera, an industry veteran, was named president of the Port of Santa Marta in 2017. Throughout his career, he has served in numerous management and leadership roles, including manager of the Buenaventura Regional Port Society, where he led port operations, infrastructure, and logistical and financial planning. Prior to that, he was general manager of port concessions in Caldera (Costa Rica). Barrera is pictured (left) with Rafael Díaz-Balart, Latin American Coordinator for AAPA.
