Jim Quinn, President and CEO of Port Saint John, Appointed to Canada Senate

Jim Quinn, president and CEO of Port Saint John in New Brunswick, Canada, has been appointed to the Senate of Canada, on the advice of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Quinn is a certified public and management accountant, and previously led an extensive and distinguished career in the public service, including as the chief financial officer at the Canadian International Development Agency. He has over 40 years of experience in the marine and public sectors and has been the president and CEO of the Saint John Port Authority since 2010. Prior to this role, he worked for 32 years in progressively senior roles with the Canadian Coast Guard, both at sea and ashore, as well as with several other federal government departments achieving the position of assistant deputy minister and chief financial officer.

Quinn is presently chair of the Board of Directors of the Association of Canadian Port Authorities and AAPA Board of Directors member. He served as AAPA’s chairman of the board in 2015-2016. He is the Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel for the 3rd Field Artillery Regiment (The Loyal Company), 5th Canadian Division. Quinn has received several awards for his financial leadership – most notably the inaugural Award of Excellence for Comptrollership in the Public Sector.
