Bellingham Port Updates Mission Statement

The board of commissioners of the Port of Bellingham has approved an updated mission statement for the agency.

Established in 1920, the Whatcom County (WA) port owns, operates and maintains approximately 1,600 acres of property including a cargo terminal, a cruise terminal, two marinas, industrial development areas, commercial uplands, parklands, shoreline public access areas and an international airport.

The revised mission state reads:

"Promote sustainable economic development, optimize transportation gateways, and manage publicly owned land and facilities to benefit Whatcom County"

"The port’s mission statement has not been changed in many years" said Executive Director Rob Fix. "The revised mission statement is succinct, to the point, and more accurately reflects the core mission of [the] port."
