Port Freeport Wins GFOA Financial Reporting Award

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada, (GFOA) has awarded Port Freeport a Certificate of Achievement for its 2015 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). It is the 27th year in a row the port has received the award.

This Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.  

The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.  

"We are proud of the excellent work that our staff in the Accounting and Finance Department produces under the guidance of Jeff Strader, CFO, and Mary Campus, Controller," said Port Executive Director Phyllis Saathoff, PPM®.  "Their dedication is impeccable which contributes to the practice of keeping our accounting and financial reporting system at the highest national standard possible."
