Boston: Massport Names Lisa Wieland Port Director

The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) Board has approved the promotion of Lisa Wieland to port director.
Ms. Wieland has served as acting port director since March 2015 and before that as chief administrator of Massport’s maritime division. As port director, she oversees planning, development, marketing, operation, security, financial management, administration and maintenance of all of Massport’s non-aviation properties.

Before joining the maritime team, she served in several roles at Massport, including the director of HR strategy & employment and the director of corporate planning and analysis. She has been with Massport since 2006.

Earlier, she worked as a consultant for Bain & Company serving health care and consumer products clients and for CNN in various news and political assignments. Her degrees include a B.A. in political science from UCLA and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.

"With a number of key projects happening around the Port of Boston, Lisa’s organization and determined leadership have played a major role in making the cruise and cargo operations successful, as well as other Maritime properties," said Massport CEO Tom Glynn. "Lisa has been adept in cultivating these values during her time at Massport, and I know that she will continue her excellent work in Maritime as she steps into this more permanent position."

Curtis J. Foltz will step down as executive director of the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) at the end of the Fiscal Year, June 30.

"Curtis Foltz has led the GPA to achieve great things over the past six years as executive director, and the six years prior as chief operating officer," said GPA Board Chairman Jim Walters. "In addition to record cargo growth, GPA, under Curtis' leadership, modernized its terminals and developed operational practices that increased efficiency, improved safety and focused on environmental stewardship. The board is grateful for the many contributions he made to the Authority during his distinguished career as executive director and as chief operating officer."

Mr. Foltz has agreed to provide consulting services to the GPA for one year after his departure.

The board also unanimously accepted the nominating committee's recommendation to appoint the current chief operating officer, Griff Lynch, to succeed Mr. Foltz. "Griff's extensive operational and port management skills make him the perfect candidate to replace Curtis and continue the success the authority has achieved," said Nominating Committee Chairman Jimmy Allgood.

Mr. Foltz seconded those sentiments, saying, "There is simply no better team anywhere in the maritime community than here at the GPA. Griff is the right choice to lead this great organization to new heights."
