Cayman Islands: Clement Reid Confirmed as Port Authority CEO

Clement Reid took the helm November 1 as port director of the Port Authority of the Cayman Islands (PACI).
Mr. Reid has worked in various executive management positions since joining port authority in 1999, most recently as deputy director of operations, with oversight responsibility for fleet, port operations and the cargo distribution center.

As port director, Mr. Reid assumes strategic responsibility for the PACI, its staff, current operations and future development. The port authority is undergoing an organizational performance evaluation which the port director will support in conjunction with the board of directors.

Mr. Reid holds a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology and serves on the AAPA Facilities Engineering Committee. He was elected chairman of the AAPA Caribbean delegation during the association’s annual convention last month in Miami.

"I am personally excited that Mr. Reid has been chosen as the new port director," said PACI Board Chairman Errol Bush, himself a former chief executive of the port authority and a past AAPA chairman of the board. "His career at the port commenced during my tenure as port director, and at that time I saw great potential in this young man. Since assuming the position of chairman of PACI in 2013, I have been impressed and personally gratified to see that my first impression of Mr. Reid has come to fruition."

Port of San Diego President & CEO Randa Coniglio Recognized with Women Who Mean Business Award

Port of San Diego President & CEO Randa Coniglio was recognized with a Women Who Mean Business Award at the 22nd annual awards ceremony hosted by the San Diego Business Journal on November 18. The event recognizes dynamic women business leaders and role models who have contributed significantly to San Diego’s business community.

"Randa embodies the ideal woman who means business: she is smart, shrewd, builds strong, lasting relationships, and treats all she meets with respect and courtesy," said Port Commission Chairman Dan Malcolm. "She believes the Port of San Diego has vast opportunities to expand upon its success as a regional economic engine by seizing opportunities, working collaboratively with all stakeholders, and instilling her enthusiasm in others."

Hired by the district after 13 years in private sector real estate development and real estate portfolio management, Ms. Coniglio began her career at the port as a senior asset manager. She was promoted multiple times during her time with the port, and as executive vice president of operations oversaw the departments of real estate, maritime, environmental and land use management, government and civic relations, and marketing and communications. The board of port commissioners appointed Ms. Coniglio port district president/CEO last June 11 after a nationwide search.

As the first woman to hold the CEO position in the district’s 52-year history, Ms. Coniglio plans to continue the success and momentum she has created by starting construction on the Chula Vista Bayfront Hotel, Resort and Convention Center project, examining the redevelopment of Harbor Island, exploring opportunities for the Pond 20 site, modernizing the Tenth Avenue Marine Terminal, and continuing to improve the environmental health of San Diego Bay.
