John Walsh's Tenure as Port Canaveral CEO to End in January

In a 4-to-1 vote taken September 23, Canaveral Port Authority commissioners and John E. Walsh agreed that his last day as Port Canaveral’s chief executive officer would be January 21, 2016. Mr. Walsh will remain in the role until that time. No decision has been made regarding a successor.

"During this transition, we will continue to provide our business partners with the excellent customer service for which Port Canaveral is known," said Port Chairman Jerry Allender.

Mr. Walsh has served as CEO since March 2013. He joined the port authority in in February 2011 as deputy executive director of infrastructure, construction, and real estate.

"It has been a pleasure to lead such amazing growth in cruise, cargo and real estate," Mr. Walsh said. "I will leave next year knowing this place is better than when I arrived here and set up for great success in all business lines. I surely will miss the incredible port staff and our customers in cruise and cargo."

Port Freeport (TX) Welcomes Names New Business and Economic Development Director

Jason Miura has joined the Port Freeport staff as director of business and economic development. He brings to the position ten years of experience in the maritime shipping industry, marine logistics and project management, most recently as commercial manager for Signet Maritime Corporation. Earlier, he held the positions of manager, chartering and business development, and assistant manager, commercial, at Signet and before that, line manager for Caribbean Feeder Services.

Mr. Miura earned a BBA from the University of Houston with a concentration in finance and completed the Export-Import Theory, Practices and Procedures course at Kingwood College. He also holds certificates from the Association of Ship Brokers and Agents in commercial trade transactions, maritime law for shipbrokers and agents and ship brokering and chartered vessel operations.

Port Freeport Commissioner’s Chairman Ravi Singhania said: "We, the Commissioners welcome Jason’s motivation, energy and commitment to our Port Freeport Team."
