On December 9th, AANM hosted over 300 attendees for the Charity Gala, presented by JL Gray Company and Monarch Properties. Close to $24,000 net cash was raised in addition to 3,000 pounds of food and countless bags of clothing to benefit Veterans Integration Center, Roadrunner Food Bank, and Heading Home. The Board of Directors, staff, and the planning committee extend heartfelt gratitude for the members that made contributions and attended the event. It was an exciting evening that highlighted the thoughtful caring of the folks from the residential rental business in New Mexico.

Housing and Insurance Subcommittee Chairman Blaine Leutkemeyer has released long-awaited draft principles outlining a path forward to reauthorizing the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) before it expires in September 2017. The document provides a framework that will ensure market certainty for the real estate community, while lessening taxpayer exposure and liability via mandatory use of reinsurance and risk transfer. Several of the key principles have the potential to drive down costs for apartment firms that mitigate risk.

While finding a suitable tenant for your vacancies, you’ve probably come across applicants who are on a visa. Whether it’s a work or student visa, many of these applicants have no financial background in the United States, and this makes performing a credit check impossible.
