AAHOA News

Mark your calendars and pack your bags. The ALIS Summer Update Series is hitting the road with unique events across the U.S. Each location will feature its own distinctive program and networking reception. There are three events taking place in July – in New York, NY (July 13), Nashville, TN (July 16), and Dallas, TX (July 20) – and topics will cover hotel capital markets, views from the boardroom, and hotel development, respectively. AAHOA is proud to co-host and collaborate with BHN Group to produce the Dallas and Nashville events, and you should act now to secure early-bird pricing. Prices go up after today.

As economies continue to reopen, so are many hotels in the process of doing the same thing. However, with all the new regulations and protocols required to do so safely, it's more important now than ever for Congress to continue to pass legislation favorable to the hospitality industry, especially hoteliers. But our elected officials' first question always is, “How many businesses in my district are affected?” and we need to have hard data to present when they ask. But we can't do that if we don't have a full and complete picture of those facts. That's why AAHOA needs each and every member to fully complete his/her MyAAHOA.com profile with updated property information. This completely confidential process will help AAHOA wield the power and influence with our elected officials, send you to most relevant information related to brands, and more. It also allows you to customzie your AAHOA experience, manage registrations subscriptions, and so much more.

Check Facebook regularly to see our members exemplifying what it means to be #AAHOASTRONG! On Friday, June 5, Georgia Regional Director Vik Zaver, AAHOA Lifetime Member Dylan Patel, and two AAHOA staff members, Dascia Freeman and Tiffany Pearce, had the honor of presenting Atlanta-area hospitals with face masks, donated on behalf of AAHOA, to help frontline workers as a part of the industry’s #HospitalityStrong campaign to shed light on the positive impact that the industry – and AAHOA Members – have on their communities by giving back. With more deliveries to take place in the weeks to come, AAHOA is committed to donating a total of 8,500 masks in support of the Hospitality Strong initiative. Thank you to Vik, Dylan, Dascia, and Tiffany for helping to make this critical contribution and showing what it means to be #AAHOASTRONG!

If you know of someone in your community helping those affected by the pandemic, let us know by emailing pr@aahoa.com. We’d love to feature the great work they’re doing!

SunTrust Robinson Humphrey reports, “Economy (-28.8%) was the relatively strongest chain scale for branded hotels; Upper Upscale was the weakest at -84.2%. Upscale (-70.7%) underperformed the industry average; Upper Midscale (-58.8%) outperformed. For the first time since the virus demand shock, RevPAR y/y percent change was sequentially worse than the prior week (weeks ending 6/6 vs. 5/30). We interpret the deceleration as a result of the prior week’s results, which were positively impacted by Memorial Day weekend, a weekend that saw drive-to leisure relatively strong from pent-up demand. The most recent week’s results did not have the luxury of including a holiday, hence the week-to-week deceleration.”
