Head over to Facebook regularly to see our members doing great things! AAHOA Lifetime Member Vibhu Joshi, along with his friends and family, handcrafted thousands of facemasks, which are in need in the region. On behalf of the Gujarati Samaj of WNY and AAHOA, Vibhu sent masks in hope to help those who may not be able to readily receive them, and to honor the work of our health care workers who are on the frontlines. And last week, Florida Regional Ambassador Rakesh Patel and his family and friends joined the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic by making masks in Fort Myers, FL. Thank you to Vibhu, Rakesh, and others for your selfless acts.

If you know of someone in your community helping those affected by the pandemic, let us know by emailing pr@aahoa.com. We’d love to feature the great work they’re doing.

Join us for the Regional Conference & Trade Show closest to you for access to top vendors, incredible networking opportunities, and region-specific industry updates you won't see anywhere else. Open to all hoteliers, and AAHOA Lifetime Members receive a free gift for attending. For the most up-to-date listing of all our upcoming events, check the events calendar.

SunTrust Robinson Humphrey reports, “Economy (-43.5%) was the relatively strongest chain scale for branded hotels; Luxury was the weakest at -94.8%. Upscale (-82.9%) underperformed the industry average; Upper Midscale (-76.9%) outperformed. Last week's lodging results were as we expected, with RevPAR y/y declines incrementally more negative. We assume continued deterioration of RevPAR in the next few weeks as more hotels close and various local/state governments that have not enacted lockdown policies take more stringent actions on nonessential activities.”

The CARES Act has passed, but the hotel industry may need more help to come out of the COVID-19 pandemic on top. Moody’s Investors Service reported, "The coronavirus outbreak continues to halt normal business activity worldwide, with no clear turning point yet." In order to weather the storm of this pandemic, hotels will need serious financial assistance.

Hotel brands have banded together to encourage financial aid during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, not all hotels will be treated equally. Publicly traded companies will be more likely to receive assistance first, meaning small and family-owned businesses may need to pursue other avenues of assistance.
