South Central Texas Regional Director Mike Patel and his Ambassadors hosted their Regional Conference & Trade Show in Houston on Tuesday. AAHOA trained more hoteliers during the Human Trafficking Awareness Training session, as we continue to lead the charge in combating sex trafficking in the hospitality industry. Chairwoman Jagruti Panwala, Vice Chairman Biran Patel, Secretary Nishant (Neal) Patel, and Interim President & CEO Rachel Humphrey gave the AAHOA update and spoke with attendees about issues that matter most to them.
  
AAHOA participated in the Texas Businesses Against Trafficking (TBAT) Forum on Wednesday, hosted by Texas Secretary of State Ruth Hughs, which helps businesses in the Lone Star State work collaboratively in developing best practices to combat human trafficking. Leaders in the government, business, and non-profit sectors joined to learn more though presentations and a series of panel discussions, including AAHOA Immediate Past Chairman Hitesh (HP) Patel, Texas First Lady Cecilia Abbott, Commissioner Julian Alvarez, and Rep. Senfronia Thompson among others.  
 
  
Vice Chairman Biran Patel will be a featured panelist at the fourth annual Hotel Investment Forum on October 24 in Miami. The forum, hosted by the Marcus & Millichap Kabani Hotel Group, is a gathering of industry leaders, investors, hotel owners, and lenders. SunTrust Robinson Humphrey reports, “Economy (-0.5%) was the "strongest" chain scale for branded hotels; Luxury was the weakest at -7.3%. Upper Midscale (-0.6%) and Midscale (-1.0%) outperformed the industry average. Last week's data was very noisy given three factors: 1) Yom Kippur calendar shift  2) Columbus Day calendar shift and 3) Hurricane Michael y/y comp.”
