Regional Director Sandip Patel and his Ambassadors hosted the Washington, D.C. Area Regional Conference & Trade Show in Norfolk, VA, on Wednesday. Treasurer Vinay Patel and Interim President & CEO Rachel Humphrey delivered the AAHOA update, while the trade show saw spirited activity between members and vendor partners. The Hotel ROI, held in conjunction with the event, attracted nearly 70 engaged attendees who gathered to hear industry professionals expound on the Opportunity Zones created by 2017’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and the development opportunities they present for hoteliers in the area.
Regional Director Kalpesh Joshi and his Regional Ambassadors hosted the Upper Midwest Regional Conference & Trade Show in Elmhurst, IL, last week, the final planned for the region this year. Sen. Ram Villivalam and Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, both from the 8th District of Illinois, and Michael Jacobson, president & CEO of the Illinois Hotel & Lodging Association, were the featured speakers, while Secretary Nishant (Neal) Patel delivered the AAHOA update.
North Carolina Regional Director Akshat Patel, Jay (Trini) Patel, Rashmikant (Haji) Patel, Vimal Hardev, and SREE Hotels President Vinay Patel hosted the Charlotte Charity Golf Tournament last weekend at The Golf Club at Ballantyne. Several local politicians and executives were in attendance at the event, including Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles, who spoke at the reception.

AAHOA on the Hill
AAHOA Interim President and CEO Rachel Humphrey issued a statement in response to federal sex trafficking lawsuits brought against four Atlanta-area hotels: “The alleged actions of the hoteliers and employees at the four hotels named in the federal lawsuits are a disgrace to the hospitality industry. These hotels are not AAHOA Members, and the trafficking that took place tarnishes the great work that thousands of hoteliers are doing to stop human trafficking across the country.” Read the statement in its entirety here.
