AAHOA News

At this very moment, hundreds of hotel owners from across the country are meeting with their elected officials in Washington, DC to discuss issues affecting small business owners and the hospitality industry. The efforts of our hotel owners are already making a big impact: Yesterday, Secretary of Labor Alexander Acosta announced that the Department of Labor is in the process of considering how to provide a more clear and more permanent approach to joint employer, an issue AAHOA members have been discussing with their congressmen for years.

As Hurricane Florence gains traction, hoteliers across the east coast are getting ready to weather one of the worst storms to ever hit the United States. We encourage hoteliers in the Carolinas, Virginia, Maryland, DC, and Georgia to download the FEMA and state Emergency Management Agency apps, familiarize yourselves with FEMA and state Hurricane Preparedness Guides, and review your state's price gouging laws in preparation for the storm. Click here to view additional resources available on AAHOA's website, including how Lowe's is preparing shoppers for the hurricane.

The safety of our members is of utmost importance to AAHOA. Due to Hurricane Florence, the South Carolina Regional Conference & Trade Show will be rescheduled to Tuesday, November 6, 2018. The event will still take place from 1-8 PM at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. Click here to view more details and register.
