In a letter to three senators, National Labor Relations Board Chairman John Ring laid out a near-term timeline for the promulgation of rulemaking on the joint employment standard, noting that it would begin "as soon as possible, but certainly by this summer." You can read the letter here.

The Senate passed HR 4743, the Small Business 7(a) Lending Oversight Reform Act, which will increase the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) oversight authority over the 7(a) Loan Program. For more information, click here.

AAHOA members worked hard to educate Members of Congress about the benefits of tax reform for the hotel industry. In December 2017, Congress passed, and the President signed into law the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Please take a moment to share your thoughts on this important legislation and tell us how it is impacting your business. This confidential survey will help AAHOA's government affairs and advocacy team continue to serve you and fight for your interests in Washington.

With over 200 hoteliers visiting Washington to meet with their representatives, AAHOA's Spring National Advocacy Conference was a great success. If you attended, please take one minute to fill out our confidential survey about your experience so we can improve our efforts as we plan our next advocacy conference.

In the Market

SunTrust Robinson Humphrey reports, "Last week was another generally clean comp (ex-2017 hurricane impact). There were a few markets with strongly positive or negative Group performance (Houston Group RevPAR was +70.2%; Nashville was +62.0%). That being said, for a holiday week and in light of relatively strong leisure demand trends, we did not see materially stronger ADR growth last week." Read the full report here.
