Overall U.S. RevPAR was up 5.5 percent year over year for the week ending Jan. 13, 2018, per STR, but it was down from the prior week's result of 9.8 percent. Independent hotels fared unusually strong at 16.5 percent year over year, while midscale and economy trailed at 1 percent and 4.4 percent, respectively.
