Governor Abbot has named 54 Texas counties as disaster areas. He has also suspended statewide state and local hotel occupancy taxes. THLA and AAHOA are working together to answer questions about how guests can take advantage of the tax exemption, in addition to many other topics including hotel room availability across Texas, room pricing during an emergency, pet fees and pet deposits, weather updates, and more.

The Arlington City Council on August 22, 2017, unanimously voted and appointed Bharat Patel Vakil to the board of the city's Ethics Review Commission. The Ethics Review Commission is responsible for hearing and ruling on alleging violations by a city official of specific enumerated standards of conduct as set forth in Section 12.02 of the city’s Ethic Code.
