AAHOA event results in $51,000 donation to charities

ATLANTA, August 16, 2016 - Leaders of the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) have announced the annual Northwest Region charity golf tournament resulted in donations of $51,000 to local and national charities.

The event, held at The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club in Aloha, Ore., attracted 138 golfers from across the hospitality industry. Money raised is being donated to the Make- a-Wish Foundation, the Autism Society of Oregon and BEST (Businesses Ending Trafficking and Slavery).

"Anytime we can donate more than $50,000 to these important charities it is a great day for AAHOA and our entire industry," said Chip Rogers, AAHOA president and CEO. "Lives will be changed in a positive manner because of the investments we make in these charitable organizations. Our hope is that this event will soon result more than $100,000 a year in donations."

BEST Executive Director Mar Brettmann said investments like the one from AAHOA make a big difference in their success. "We can change lives, and even save lives, by stopping human trafficking, but it takes resources. The impact of donations like this will be felt for generations."

The annual AAHOA Northwest Regional Charity Golf Tournament has raised over $300,000 during the last decade. It is one of four annual charity tournaments held by the association across the United States.

Formed in 1989, AAHOA is the world’s largest hotel owners’ association, with more than 15,000 members. The members of AAHOA own almost one of every two hotels in the United States. With offices in Atlanta and Washington D.C., AAHOA serves its members through advocacy, education, member benefits and as host to over 150 hospitality-related events per year.
