In Brief

AAFA fights to protect NAFTA’s cross-border Mexican trucking provisions: Today, AAFA joined with more than 100 trade associations in sending a letter to U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer urging him to maintain NAFTA’s cross-border trucking provisions in any renegotiated agreement. The letter comes in response to reports that the administration was considering new restrictions on Mexican long-haul truckers.

AAFA pushes for duty relief via MTB legislation: Last week, AAFA commended the House Ways and Means Committee and Senate Finance Committee for formally introducing the bipartisan Miscellaneous Tariff Bill (MTB) and urged quick Congressional passage of the bill. The MTB enacts the temporary reduction or suspension of duties on certain U.S. imports, offering long-needed duty relief for American companies.
