The demand for intermodal rail transportation service is one of the major trends in the market. As a result of the low fuel costs and fewer regulations, many vendors are shifting to rail transportation.

Analysts forecast the Global Food Logistics market to grow at a CAGR of 8.87 percent over the period 2013-2018. According to the report, an increase in tie-ups with e-commerce retailers is one of the main drivers in this market. This helps retailers serve customers beyond their geographical boundaries. The growth of the e-commence market depends on support from the logistics and transportation industry as it plays an important role in providing warehousing infrastructure and making goods and services available to customers from manufacturing facilities.
