All Rand McNally IntelliRoute TND 720 truck GPS devices will now ship with new software that includes updates and new features available via Wi-Fi connectivity.

Ryder System, Inc. a leader in commercial transportation and supply chain management solutions, announced today that Food Authority, a family-owned and operated food service provider that distributes produce and grocery products to Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, District of Columbia and Pennsylvania, has refreshed and expanded its fleet with 66 new refrigerated heavy duty vehicles under a Full Service Lease from Ryder. The vehicles have been specified with Certified Clean Idle engines and upgraded programmable transmissions to reduce emissions and fuel consumption. With a Full Service Lease, Ryder acquires vehicles according to the customer's specifications, provides financing, maintenance and fleet support services, and then manages vehicle disposal to protect customers from residual risk.

OMAHA (AP) - Some stretches of the historic coast-to-coast Lincoln Highway over the next week could look like a scene straight out of an F. Scott Fitzgerald novel.
Two processions of Model Ts, Model As and other cars are setting out this weekend, making their way from New York and San Francisco to the midpoint of Kearney to celebrate the 100th year of the Lincoln Highway, considered to be the nation's first transcontinental highway.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is offering grants totaling almost $1 million to increase enrollment and provide job placement for veterans and military families in the commercial motor vehicle industry.

The announcement comes one day after Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx was confirmed as the 17th U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary.

US – 42 year old, Anthony Foxx, was confirmed as Secretary of Transportation yesterday by a unanimous 100 – nil Senate vote. Foxx succeeds Ray LaHood and is likely to continue his predecessor's aggressive safety campaigning. The incoming secretary has experience in transport and logistics in both passenger and freight sectors, having introduced both streetcar and light rail programs while mayor of Charlotte, North Carolina, and played a part in both the construction of a runway at his local international airport and the construction of a multimodal freight centre. Road haulage dignitaries welcomed Foxx's appointment with American Trucking Association's CEO, Bill Graves, saying:
