Applications are open for the AOC STEM Student of the Year Scholarship, awarding $12,500 each to one male and one female student studying engineering or engineering technology. Funded by RTX and presented by the AOC Educational Foundation, this scholarship supports full-time US sophomores or juniors with a 3.0+ GPA who demonstrate academic excellence and a strong interest in national defense. Preference is given to students focused on areas like signals intelligence, cyber technologies and spectrum operations.

Kenneth Nobuo Kawakami, recognized as one of the premier experts in the microwave field, passed away on April 3. After earning electrical engineering degrees from Purdue University, he designed microwave components for military and commercial markets. Despite becoming legally blind in 1998, he continued working until his 2017 retirement, performing complex equations mentally. Colleagues valued his deep technical knowledge and mentorship of young engineers. He was a member of IEEE and AOC.

I will describe some of the positive training aspects of integrated training exercises and home-based training as well as areas for improvement. I will also cover some efforts to provide increased training capabilities in the future to include live, virtual and constructive systems, emulators and XR/VR training.
