With funding from the Farm Bill provided by USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), the CWPMA (the invasive species group) was able to expand outreach and education efforts through the "Slowing the Onward Movement of Pests II" (STOMP II) Initiative. Billboards with the "Don’t Move Firewood" message were installed in high traffic corridors in West Virginia including Harman, Moorefield, Petersburg and Charleston. The idea is to inform travelers about pests and what steps they can take to prevent their introduction and spread. With the installation of these billboards, travelers will be more aware of how moving firewood can also move tree-killing insects and diseases.
