The WRLA is accepting nominations for the inaugural Sales Representative Award. Retailers can nominate any sales representatives who should be recognized for all their work.
 
Nominations must come from Retail WRLA Members. This award was designed to come from Retailers who want to recognize and reward individuals in the vendor community who are doing exceptional work, day in and day out. 
 
Want to nominate a colleague? Ask a retailer for endorsement and to put forth a nomination. 
 
Nominate who you think deserves some recognition!
 

The WRLA is very pleased to announce the official launch a new certification program developed in partnership with Mount Royal University's Continuing Education Program. This program is ideal for those currently in career transition or are considering a career in the building supply industry.

We need your help to share this news to as many people as possible. This program is an exciting addition to the LBM industry - one that attracts and retains talent to the industry and professionalizes the industry.

CashierPRO is pleased to announce that Lynda Hawke has joined their team in the Customer Service department, where she will be assisting existing clients in using their CashierPRO POS system, as well as providing installation & training to new clients. Lynda has an extensive background in Retail Services, Accounting & Inventory Management, including recently as the Controller at Fisher River Building Centre & All Nations Building Centre. Prior to those roles, Lynda was a Project Manager, providing training and support for ProfitMaster clients for seven years.
 
In the last couple of years, CashierPRO has more than doubled their new client base, and Lynda will be instrumental in helping continuing that growth. Gillfor Distribution Inc., parent company to OWL Distribution Inc., McIlveen Lumber Industries Ltd. and Brown & Rutherford Co., announced the purchase of Brunswick Valley Distribution Inc., the Atlantic Canadian distribution arm of parent company Brunswick Valley Lumber Inc.
 
Brunswick Valley Distribution is headquartered in Fredericton, NB and operates a distribution facility in Moncton, NB. Brunswick Valley Distribution will continue to service customers in Atlantic Canada adding market-leading products beginning January 1, 2019 including composite decking, aluminum railing, a variety of specialty softwoods, and more.
 

Terry Davis, President and Chief Executive Officer of Home Hardware Stores Limited as well as Stew Gingrich, Vice-President, Human Resources were inducted into the Home Hardware Stores Limited Builders’ Circle. 

The Builders’ Circle program was launched in commemoration of Home’s 50th anniversary in 2014 to honour and recognize retired members of the Board of Directors and Corporate Officers of Home Hardware Stores Limited for their past service; those who have made extraordinary contributions to support the success of our Dealer-Owners.

Terry Davis, retired as President and CEO on October 10, 2018 after 48 years of service. He joined the Home Hardware team in July 1970 as a stock picker in the St. Jacobs warehouse. Terry was advanced and transitioned through several Executive positions since his appointment as Vice-President, Information Services in April 1990 including his recent appointment of President and CEO on April 18, 2018. Stew Gingrich, Vice-President, Human Resources will retire in January 2019 after 46 years of service. He joined the Home Hardware team in September 1972 and sustained the role of Vice-President, Human Resources for the past 14 years. 
 
Lowe’s Canada opened its second store in the greater Edmonton area featuring the new model of Lowe’s stores, which offers an enhanced shopping experience. The store, located at 10450, 42nd Avenue in Edmonton, was converted from the former RONA Home and Garden. It was designed by taking the best of Lowe’s and RONA’s offerings to create the new model of Lowe’s stores. 
 
The store underwent an extensive 16-week physical transformation from the former RONA which involved construction, departmental sequencing of new racking and re-merchandising, branding and IT conversion, as well as a significant investment in people with exhaustive training focused on new product knowledge and customer service.
