- During the winter, you should promote indoor projects that customers may put off during the warmer months, such as reorganizing a closet or painting a bathroom. Having promotions or special pricing will attract customers to the store and will allow you to reap the benefits of higher sales in the off-season and future customers for spring and summer.
- Use winter to do cleaning and maintenance in your store. Begin by assessing the interior of your store and then use the slow season during the winter to do needed maintenance before the spring rush.
- Prepare your store for spring by merchandising seasonal products that will have the maximum impact. You should look back at your biggest seasonal sellers from past years and concentrate your merchandising in those categories to ensure a strong selling season, such as stocking gardening equipment.
- Begin to reorganize your store to make way for the influx of lawn and garden products and other spring merchandise. By carefully planning where to position spring merchandise, you will be prepared when the first shipment arrives.

"We are pleased to report that effective January 1st, 2015, Champion Canada International ULC is joining Sexton Group Ltd", stated Steve Buckle, President,
"Champion Canada is the largest manufacturer of modular homes in Canada. They operate five plants in Canada and it is these five plants that are joining the group."
The plants are located in Medicine Hat, Lethbridge, Estevan, Kelowna and Penticton. Estevan, Lethbridge and Winfield operate under the name SRI Homes and the Medicine Hat and Penticton plants operate as Moduline Industries.
Champion Canada International ULC will be one of Sexton Group’s largest purchasing members of building materials and is a welcome addition to the group.

 It is with great sadness that we inform you of the sudden passing of Don Sherwood. The WRLA lost a true friend and supporter this week.
Don Sherwood, President of the Atlantic Building Supply Dealers Association (ABSDA), passed away on Tuesday, December 9. Both our industry and the WRLA have been made stronger through Don’s advice and insight over the years. He was a true ambassador for the ABSDA and a friend to all that knew him. At the request of his family a gathering to celebrate Don’s life for family and friends will be held at Atlantic Building Supply Dealers Association office at 70 Englehart Drive, Dieppe on Saturday, December 13, 2014 between the hours of 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations to a memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
