Here are some tips for creating an effective endcap:

Fill it up: Endcaps should look full. As you sell through items, restock or move in new items.
Density matters: Plan at least one endcap for every 400 square feet of retail sales floor.
Promote projects: While you can use an endcap to merchandise one or more products, you can also create a project theme. Include a product with one or two complementary or related items to fill out the display centered around a specific project.

Keep it balanced: Studies suggest single-item endcaps make the most powerful impact while driving large sales increases. However, if you don’t want to invest in the large inventory levels it takes for a massive product display on every endcap, take the balanced approach.

Include POP video players: Endcaps with TV monitors with a looping informational video about a featured product can build customers’ interest about a product as well as give them confidence about using it. You’re also more likely to get a customer to stop and look at the endcap if there’s a video playing than if there’s just a stagnant sign.

Let employees be creative: When creating a display, be creative by using unusual products, a lot of color or vignettes: anything that will catch customers’ attention. If you have employees who need an outlet for their creative spirits, show them a few products you’d like to promote and let them use their imaginations to come up with creative endcaps.

[ATLANTA, JULY 22, 2013]  —  "Many people do not know that we are a general contracting firm that offers so much more, not just equipping, but also planning and constructing," says Travis, adding, "our new name, CT Darnell Construction, now more accurately reflects the broad spectrum of services we have been offering lumberyard operators for years."

By rebranding under the CT Darnell Construction (CTD) name, the company is emphasizing that it’s a nationally licensed, full-service planner and constructor of all LBM facilities, from simple storage options to full-scale, multi-unit lumberyards and retail facilities. Like its rack systems, building design and construction go back to the company’s founding 25 years ago.

The company’s capabilities include full-service building design and construction for store buildings, warehouse buildings, bulk storage sheds, and rack supported drive-thru buildings and T-sheds. CTD also modifies existing buildings.  "We typically spend planning time alongside an operations manager of a lumberyard or the owner of a retail store to ensure the finished product has perfect functionality," says Travis.

The firm’s construction business has continued to expand over the last 10 years, building solutions in numerous industries including transportation, retail, restaurants and warehouse facilities, in addition to continued dominance of the LBM market. CT Darnell Construction serves clients from small, privately-owned companies to Fortune 500 businesses.

Founded in 1987 by Alan and Angie Darnell to serve lumberyards and the then-new big-box retailers, the firm has evolved into a full-service, licensed general contractor operating across the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. The company was purchased in 2008 by Travis and Clint Darnell, sons of the founders. Travis and Clint each bring to their roles over 20 years’ hands-on experience in all phases of company operations.

Today, CT Darnell Construction continues the strength of the family’s construction legacy. President Travis Darnell and Vice President Clint Darnell come from a long line of contractors and builders, including a grandfather who was a general contractor and an uncle who is an architect and a builder. Twenty five years of successfully-completed projects, relationship-building and problem solving have earned the firm an unparalleled reputation in general contracting in the LBM arena.

"Basically, CT Darnell Construction is a new name that represents a broad range of expertise and superior industry knowledge that’s always been there," summarizes Travis.

Sunbelt Racks, http://www.Sunbelt-Rack.com, the company’s retail racking business, has grown to be its own separate division, now named Sunbelt Rack. This division provides racking systems, fixtures, equipment and logistics to retailers large and small. Sunbelt Rack has long been known in the LBM industry as a premier supplier and installer of racking and storage systems for lumberyards and building supply companies.

Headquartered at 2255 Justin Trail, Alpharetta, GA 30004, CT Darnell Construction and Sunbelt Rack are divisions of WTD Holdings, Inc. For more information about the company, visit http://www.CT-Darnell.com (site will be live 8/1) or call 770-569-2244 or 800-353-0892.
