Have you or your management team considered the possibility of hiring and training an apprentice to help meet the specific demands of your company and the asphalt industry? VAA’s apprenticeship program is uniquely designed to combine on-the-job training with pertinent schoolwork that used together, can yield the following benefits:

Benefits of Apprenticeship for the Employer:
Training standards can be tailored to the employer’s individual needs
Training increases productivity by cultivating a highly skilled and knowledgeable workforce
Allows your organization to promote from within and increase retention

Benefits of Apprenticeship for the Student:
Receive high quality mentoring and education
Earn while learning
Program requirements can lead to the completion of an Associate’s Degree

If this is an opportunity that you want to consider, plan to join VAA in November for an "Apprenticeship Question and Answer Session" conference call that will explain how the program works, and what you need to do to get the process started in-house. Ed Dalrymple, who currently employs 11 apprentices at his Chemung Corporation, and Ben Sherman from Germanna Community College’s Workforce Development Program, will join us on the call to share helpful information about the program and answer questions you have before you get started. Details for this event are still being put together, so look for updated information via email and next month’s newsletter regarding a date and time for this informative session.
