• Over Time - Seventy-five percent of the electricity used to power home electronics, including your television, is consumed while the products are turned off.  When you turn off your television after the big game, your energy bills keep racking up the points in "over time".  Across the US, this equals the annual output of 12 power plants and costs consumers over $1 billion each year.
• Extra Point - ENERGY STAR certified home electronics use as much as 50% less energy when in the "off" position, while providing the same performance - at the same price - as less-efficient models. If every TV sold this year carried the "ENERGY STAR", it would mean 9 billion pounds less air pollution.
