Why does chiropractic have to continually defend itself against organized medicine? Because they have publicly stated that they"will continue to develop programs to educate the public about the differences in education and professional standards between physicians and non-physician health care providers." Not only that, but they publicly state that theywill continue to pursue appropriate regulatory, legislative and legal means to oppose any efforts to permit non-physician health care professionals to prescribe substances used for medical treatment. Though there are number of "non-physician" prescribers of medication, why do they hold that it is suitable for some "non-physician" providers with appropriate training but not for others? Chiropractic doctors must join together to defend our profession against the continued assaults of organized medicine.
