The 43rd TXAPA Annual Meeting is scheduled for September 19-23, 2017 at the La Torretta Resort in Montgomery, Texas. We are looking forward to an exciting, fun and informative annual meeting. You can now register online at the TXAPA website.

OSHA – New Silica Standard - Reminder:

Last month a reminder was sent regarding the enforcement of the new OSHA Silica standard for construction (roadway work for our industry) starting September 23, 2017, and the standard for general industry (asphalt plants for our industry) and maritime employers which won't go into effect until June 23, 2018. The TXAPA Scholarship Live and Silent Auction is being held at the annual meeting on Thursday evening, September 21, 2017. TXAPA is now accepting donations for the auction. This is a very important program, and earlier this year TXAPA awarded a total of 18 scholarships to students. These are students who are pursuing a career in the asphalt construction industry. TXAPA will host several webinars in the upcoming months. The first webinar — Texas Asphalt Pavement Mix Types — is now available to view on the TXAPA website home page. The second webinar July 20 — Successful Pre-Paving Meetings hosted by Chuck Fuller is also available online. The next webinar is scheduled for September 28, 2017, and will be hosted by Larry Welch and Gary Corley. The topic will be "Best Practices for Compaction / Rolling Patterns. The webinars will begin at 10:00 a.m.

The 2017 class schedule is available on the HMAC website. Be sure to schedule your classes in advance because they do fill up quickly. The HMAC works diligently to make sure that all your certification needs are met and new classes are formed as needed.
