The Associate Member Advisory Committee is currently developing a plan that will provide trade show booth opportunities at TXAPA’s 2012 Annual Meeting at the Horseshoe Bay Resort. The TXAPA Marketing Committee is taking the lead on the production of a 50th-Anniversary Texas Asphalt Pavement Association book. TXAPA is contracting with Emily Adams, TXAPA’s creative consultant and the owner of AltaCreative, to develop and produce the book in a coffee table format. The book will contain the history of TXAPA since 1962. Gary Corley’s efforts to date for the Texas Asphalt magazine will be the backbone of the book. To help support the history of the association, pictures are intended to be a significant portion of the book.

Certification and re-certification classes are filling up fast. It is imperative to register as early as possible. You can find a current schedule on the Hot Mix Asphalt Center’s Web page located at www.txhmac.org.

Certified technicians must re-certify six months prior to their certification expiring. There is no grace period once the certification lapses. It is the responsibility of each certified technician to monitor your expiration date and schedule your re-certification. If you fail to re-certify within the six-month period, your certification will be revoked. Technicians with revoked certifications will be required to take the week-long training class in order to regain their certification.
