Nominations for the Contractor Awards are due Dec. 4, 2015 and you must be an SFPA member to enter. Winners will be announced Feb. 10, 2016, when SPFA sponsors the Industry Excellence Awards Luncheon as part of the Sprayfoam 2016 Convention & Expo.

WUFI is the brainchild of Hartwig Kunzel aka "The Konig of WUFI" from the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics and is a software tool for calculating coupled heat and moisture transfer in building assemblies. It has gone through two decades of refinements. I think its time has come. For the record I have always said the problem has never been the model – but the modeler. A tool is only as useful as the skill of the person using the tool...

Byron Lapin, president and CEO of Convenience Products and its parent company Clayton Corporation, passed away suddenly at his home Tuesday, November 10. Convenience Products manufactures industrial and consumer products under the brand names Touch ‘n Seal ®, Touch ‘n Foam®, and SEAL-KRETE® with locations in St. Louis, Missouri, and Auburndale, Florida. Lapin was the son of the late Aaron "Bunny" Lapin, who invented Reddi-Wip®, the first whipped cream available in an aerosol can, in 1948. Byron became president in 1970 and founded Convenience Products, proudly expanding upon his father’s original idea of "convenience in a can."

Honeywell announced on Nov. 18 that one of its new low-global-warming insulating materials was recognized as one of the "BuildingGreen’s Top 10 Green Building Products for 2016" by BuildingGreen, a leader in green building information. Solstice® Liquid Blowing Agent (LBA), a critical material used in energy-efficient polyurethane foam insulation, was named a winner of this highly-regarded award during the 2015 Greenbuild International Conference and Expo held in Washington, D.C.

GSA’s Green Proving Ground (GPG) program and DOE’s High Impact Technology (HIT) Catalyst have issued a joint Request for Information calling for innovative emerging building technologies that can cost-effectively transform the operational efficiency of federal and commercial buildings. Responses to this RFI will be evaluated based on your technology’s potential environmental performance, cost savings, and opportunity for widescale deployment. Technologies will be considered, by one or both programs, for third-party measurement and verification in occupied, operational buildings.
