The committees comprising the SPFA PCP are working to continually improve the certification program. Just an hour before this print deadline, the Quality Assurance Program (QAP) Committee unanimously approved the recommendations of the Certification Scheme Committee (CSC), which would streamline the certification process and removing redundancy of requirements.
These changes are effective immediately; however it will take some time to update the Certification Handbooks, forms and database. They will be posted to the website as they are updated.
CPI — Completion of the CPI course is no longer required for an individual’s certification since the information is covered in the PCP. All SPF field personnel are still required to have successfully completed the CPI course as part of the Contractor Company Accreditation.
CPR /First Aid — Since local jurisdictions and OSHA have safety protocols in place, the requirement for an individual to have CPR and First Aid in order to be certified has been removed.
OSHA 10/30 Hour Courses (Construction) — The OSHA 10 or 30 hour courses for construction are no longer required for individual certifications. The PCP curriculum covers material in the OSHA 10 hour course. For a contractor company to become SPFA PCP Accredited, one person within that company must have successfully completed the OSHA 30 hour course.
In addition, the Re-Certification Period has been extended from 5 years to 7 years. The following are the modified requirements for rec-certification:
•Complete all annual requirements
•Submit proof of Continuing Education Units (CEU) as required per level
Assistant – 10 CEU
Installer – 15 CEU
Master Installer – 20 CEU
Project Manager – 25 CEU
•Confirmation of receipt of re-certification fee (confirm account is in good standing regarding complaints, defaults or demerits)
