Politics, Environmentalism Beating Out Science in Regulating Risk Say Experts
A survey of three professional societies, each focused on risk assessment, reveals that science is being pushed aside by politics and environmental advocacy when it comes to protecting the public from the risks of chemicals. 
3M Unveils State-of-the-Art Fall Protection Testing Facility
3M unveiled a state-of-the-art testing facility for its expanding portfolio of fall protection solutions, complete with a research and development tower. The testing facility is located within 3M’s Fall Protection campus in Cottage Grove, Minn. At the new facility, 3M will test harnesses, connecting and anchorage devices, lifeline systems, confined space equipment, and escape and rescue products.

New-Home Sales Post Solid Numbers in November
Sales of newly built, single-family homes declined 2.1 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 464,000 units in November from an upwardly revised strong pace of 474,000 units in the previous month, according to data released today by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U.S. Census Bureau. Except for October 2013, this is the strongest sales pace since July of 2008.
