"We tried to build it and hoped they’d come. And they did!"

"We tried to build it and hoped they’d come. And they did!" said SPFA Executive Director Kurt Riesenberg during the General Session on Thursday morning,  referring to the SPFA show, which experienced record-setting numbers this year.  He also shared the news that slides from Sprayfoam 2015 presentations will be uploaded to the SPFA website, www.sprayfoam.org, in the next week or two.

In addition to the SPF Global Market Data presentation by Hanne Hirsimaki, attendees were filled in on SPFA Committee News from Rick Duncan, Bonnie Strickler, Todd Henderson and Mac Sheldon. Some of the bits of information they shared, included:

Safety Committee: "One of the biggest deliverables for this year is the publication of a Model Written Safety Program Template. It was published in December 2014 and will be available to SPFA members-only for 6 months. We encourage you to review it, weekly or monthly, and be active in your safety program," said Rick Duncan. "Also, in 2015 there will be bi-monthly safety webinars on the first Wednesday of every other month, starting in March, 4-5 p.m. ET."

Building Envelope Committee: "It met three times last year via Web, and had a live meeting after the Building Science Summer Camp in Boston." Thanks to this committee’s work, "There were errors found in Energy Modeling software in California, which would equate to an 8-10% variation in final numbers. The software is being corrected," Said Rick.

Roofing Committee: This committee is collaborating with SFC on a number of projects, including Thermal Metric and a UVA Technical Whitepaper.

On the SPFA PCP front, Bonnie Strickler mentioned there were 373 certified individuals and 610 registered in the system, though those numbers did not reflect updates that took place at Sprayfoam 2015.

Todd Henderson, the Show Committee chair, said the Sprayfoam attendee numbers had topped 1,000 as of Thursday morning.

Mac Sheldon of the newly-announced SPFA Marketing Committee asked, "It is high time we start to promote SPF, would you agree?" as he solicited members to step up and join this new high-profile committee.
