Photo Rounds at Sprayfoam 2015

Here are some of the candid shots from Sprayfoam 2015 on Tuesday:

Grant Urban of Demilec (center) said, "SPF is on the uptake. It has been a rough couple of years, but it is coming back up. There is a lot of opportunity!"

Participants take part in the SPF Roofing Project Manager course on Tuesday.

Cary Cook, the president of Cook Coatings Inc., said all of his applicators have some sort of certification from SPFA, but he will be looking into making sure everyone is up to date with the SPFA PCP credentials too. "Specs are coming out requiring you have a masters applicator certification to bid on some jobs, especially the public works ones but for private ones as well." Cook said.

Jim Durovick of JS Sprayfoam is here at the SPFA show taking part in the PCP courses, including the SPF Insulation Project Manager one. And he has good reason to be happy... he is based in Alberta, Canada and said January is usually the only month that might get cold enough to actually stop spraying foam.  Being based in a colder climate, Durovick said he uses "the best of the best" equipment and supplies to help increase the number of days in the year he can spray foam. "We use a big John Deere generator because of all the heat we need to create and have a tankless compressor (screws compressor) as well. This gives you air right away, lots of air and there is no duty cycle." He also uses a Graco proportioner that has 20.4 kW heaters and "we heat the trailers too." He said the hose is the only "weak" link. "We have to worry about the hose in the snow or freezing down."

Chelsea Whitley (left) and Meghan Peters of Spray Foam Systems out of Georgia took four PCP tests each at Sprayfoam 2015.  Pam Hibbard of United Thermal Systems (right) out of New York, was taking a lunch break during her participation in a PCP course at the SPFA show on Tuesday.

Nash Harris from Spray Foam Solutions in Melbourne, Australia, said, "The only way to be part of the industry is to be here (at SPFA shows)."

Jim Koch from Coating and Foam Solutions out of Wisconsin said, "We come early to meet with other businesses and vendors. One of the most remarkable things is that I have been in the business for 38 years and have noticed that they all keep coming back to Sprayfoam every year." The Coating and Foam Solutions crew shares some laughs at the Doubletree by Hilton’s lounge.

The Field Exams were made possible through the support of the PCP Field Exam Equipment Sponsors (pictured above). AMEC is also a sponsor.

Thanks. Robin Farver, for taking a photo of me!  If you have something to share, I can be reached at @shanicalvo on Twitter, or email me at shani@naylor.com. I'll be here the whole show, collecting good information to share in the Conference Daily, the SPFA enewsletter and the magazine, Sprayfoam Professional.
