Did you know that 40% of the waste in local landfills comes from renovation and demolition debris?  Thatís where Community Forklift can help.  Community Forklift is a nonprofit reuse center for building materials that serves the Washington Metro region.  Their mission is to lift up communities by making repairs affordable, reducing waste and creating green jobs.

The organization accepts donations of most salvaged and surplus building materials and appliances, as well as vintage housewares and some furniture.  They also offer a free pick up service for large donations throughout the DC area.  These materials are then made available to the public at very low cost, and given to families in need and other nonprofits.
Donations are tax-deductible, so if your client is renovating or demolishing a home, please let them know that their old cabinets, appliances, doors or other leftovers can go to Community Forklift instead of the landfill! Call the Forklift's donations team at (301) 832-0781, or visit www.CommunityForklift.org for more information.
