Join us for SCAPA'S 2018 Summer Conference! The conference will begin on Thursday, June 21, 2018 for the SCAPA Board of Directors and on Friday, June 22, 2018 for all other SCAPA members. It will conclude on Sunday, June 24, 2018.
 
 
   
Join us for a comprehensive workshop session about the history, mix design, production, construction and performance characteristics of Stone Asphalt Matrix. The seminar will begin around 10:00 am and conclude around 3:00 pm. Lunch will be served at the seminar.
 
 
   
The SCAPA Board of Directors recently approved South Risk Management as a new associate member. South Risk provides services in the arena of commercial construction insurance and surety bonds.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) was awarded a 2017 Perpetual Pavement Award by the Asphalt Pavement Alliance (APA) for a nine-mile section of Interstate 95 in Jasper County. This is SCDOT’s seventh Perpetual Pavement Award in 14 years.

SCAPA staff met with hundreds of department of transportation engineers in Columbia earlier this month. The 2018 Conference was held at the Columbia Metropolitan Conference Center and saw record-breaking attendance (over 900 people).

NAPA offers a variety of webinars throughout the year on various topics related to the asphalt industry. These topics range from newly released industry regulations to innovative processes and technology that can benefit your company.
 
The Center for Transportation Studies at the University of Texas at Austin has released a report that determines the best mix type for use as an ultra thin overlay. The report also evaluates the volumetric-based criterion used to determine the optimum binder content and identifies the properties of the required tack coat. Ultra thin overlays have become a common alternative to seal coats due to their lack of noise and improved ride quality, as well as their reduced overall cost.

"One Moment Can Change a Life" work zone safety video was released at NAPA’s Annual Meeting. This is the first step towards building out a full campaign to promote the video for National Work Zone Awareness Week in April.
