At the end of February 2017, Italian-based GapCon (a member of the PAPCEL Group of companies) commissioned a new tissue machine, an EconSOFT™ ERS (Energy and Resource Savings), for Papelera Samseng’s mill in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The paper machine is equipped with unique and innovative shoe press concept: EconPRESS™ NexT (New extended nip concept for tissue).

Papelera Samseng was founded in 1993 and is one of the leading producers of tissue paper in Argentina. The mill said that it turned to GapCon mainly due to the offered technology that would help the customer significantly reduce production costs (the overall operational energy savings), therefore increasing its competitive position in the market.

The new paper machine width on reel is 3,450 mm and the operating speed is 1,800 m/min, with a production output of 145 tons/day. The machine features an advanced type of EconFLOW™ headbox, enabling the machine to operate with higher stock consistencies. The press design allows a considerably higher sheet dryness before the Yankee dryer and thus significant energy savings. The machine concept offers a wide range of tissue papers to be produced. This unique technical solution will shorten also the maintenance time. It is the best alternative for upgrading existing paper machines when looking to increase production, reduce energy consumption and significantly improve paper quality.
