Fire departments use these funds to purchase new protective clothing and replace items such as damaged safety gear and aging equipment.

A.Celli Upgrades Unipak Tissue Rewinder in Four Days
This past October, a team from A.Celli Paper’s Customer Service department, in collaboration with the mill’s specialized staff, dismantled the slitting unit at the Lebanon mill in just four days of machine downtime and two days of product testing, allowing the customer to resume standard production with no complications or delays.
 
Ahlstrom Invests to Increase Flexibility of Binzhou Production Line
Following the modification, the production line will be capable of producing filtration products in addition to wallcovering materials. The annual capacity of the line will be about 20,000 metric tons of wallcovering or filtration products. Work is expected to be completed by April 2016.
 
Domtar’s Kamloops Pulp Mill Celebrates 50 Years
The operation began when a new concept for utilizing waste materials from regional sawmilling operations was developed. Residual waste of sawdust and wood chips would be used to make pulp, thereby providing economic development in the region while addressing an environmental challenge facing sawmills of the day.

Potosí Starts up New A.Celli Tissue Machine in Mexico
The new machine is at the company’s mill in San Luis Potosí. It is 2,800 mm wide, operates at a speed of 1,500 m/min., has a 12-ft/ dia. steel yankee dryer, and can produce 80 metric tpd of high-quality tissue. The Potosí mill operates two existing tissue machines that produce 18,500 metric tpy of napkin and toilet paper.

The scope of supply includess a PrimeFlow TW two-layer headbox with PrimeProfiler F dilution water control and PrimeForm TW gap former. PM 3 has a design speed of 1,200 m/min and produces fluting, testliner, and corrugated medium, with a basis weight range of 80-150 gsm. Startup is scheduled for late 2016.

In the T1100S, they are supplying not just a press, but a fully integrated production system for corrugated preprint. Printing uncoated paper on the T1100S includes dispersing a bonding agent from printheads before the ink is sprayed. For coated papers, a unit of the press flood-coats substrate with primer to insure ink adhesion.

The facility recently added 250,000 sq. ft. Growth is possible because of a growing demand for renewable products such as the company’s paper cups. The growth of the facility was profiled in detail this past week by a local Ohio newspaper. The plant makes products for Wendy’s, McDonald’s, Dairy Queen, Starbucks, and more.

NORPAC plans to increase the price of 30 lb. (48.8 gsm.) standard newsprint by $20.00 per metric ton effective Feb. 1, 2016. Prices for other newsprint basis weights will increase proportionally and as per past practices.
