TAPPI’s Intro to Kraft Pulping Course Begins Next Week!

TAPPI's Introduction to Kraft Pulping and Bleaching Course is offered for the first time in a new Blended Learning format, which combines the high quality, interactive instruction that you expect from TAPPI’s in-person classroom with the convenience and flexibility of learning from work or home.

Blended Learning focuses on interaction among participants where you can ask questions, provide your own experiences with the equipment you use and absorb the remarkable enthusiasm shared by Dr. Michael Kocurek -- an instructor who has taught this course to operators (new and experienced), and process engineers, at more than 90 pulp mills, and to suppliers, consultants, and organizations.

Participants in this course will engage during Zoom class sessions, online at TAPPI Connect and with the instructor before and after class, by email, phone and live online discussions.

This exceptional opportunity begins in September, so it’s important to register now for one of the remaining spaces.

So, what do I get with Blended Learning?

One-on-One Planning Discussion
Dr. Kocurek will work with you individually to discuss and assist with selection of the flexible learning options:

  1. The course content can be covered in as little as two to three days, which is comparable to a normal morning and afternoon short course.
  2. The course content can be covered in five to six days using only mornings for increased flexibility, discussions, Q&A and assignments.  Missed lectures can be viewed anytime or on other days.
  3. The course content can be covered in four to five weeks, using a university/college-type schedule with only one to two lectures per day for maximum flexibility.  Missed lectures can be viewed anytime or on other days.

Uniquely Crafted Integrated Lectures

One to two lectures per day are offered for maximum flexibility.  Some lectures are NPT2 lectures which have opening on-camera opening remarks by the Instructor, followed by content, then closing remarks. Most lectures include new recorded updates on industry trends.

Participants will engage with Dr. Kocurek at the end of lectures on TAPPI Connect for Q&A, comments, discussion and input on troubleshooting exercises and assignments.

Friday lectures feature a live online discussion via Zoom for covering Q&A, comments and further discussion on lesson content.

Classwork Study Guides
Assignments and follow-along PDF notes will be provided with each week’s program of learning.  These study guides are designed to also serve as valuable reference materials later back at work when participants apply newly acquired information and practices into action.

TAPPI Professional Certificate
Participants of this course can take the TAPPI Professional Certificate test at the conclusion of the course.  A TAPPI Professional Certificate ensures understanding of the learning outcomes presented.

Course Evaluation
As with all TAPPI training events, participants will have the opportunity to provide feedback about the learning outcomes, quality of the instruction and content of the curriculum.

CEUs Awarded
Participants who complete the Introduction to Kraft Pulping and Bleaching Virtual training can receive 2.0 Continuing Education Credits (CEUs).

Who should attend?
This course is ideal for anyone new to the kraft pulping process, particularly process engineers and operators.
