APP Launches New Acadia 2000 Label Paper

Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) has launched a new label paper and expanded three partnerships in Mexico.

The developments took place at the Expo Pack trade show in Guadalajara, Mexico.

The new Acadia 2000 is a premium one-side coated paper claimed to have superior bulk and excellent smoothness. The wet strength label resists disintegration and rupture when exposed to water or other moisture build-up, making it suited to replacing the plastic-type label. The material is aimed at soft drinks, juice, coffee, beer, wine and other cold liquid food packaging, where it can withstand varied temperatures and humidity.

Meanwhile, strategic partner Papelera Kino; full-service printing and packaging manufacturer Krishka/Pap Tech; and converting partner Promasa have each expanded relationships with APP to offer a greater variety of packaging products in Mexico.

Papelera Kino will offer APP’s biodegradable Bio Nature Cups across its 20 retail outlets by year-end. Krishka/Pap Tech is the latest converter in Latin America to offer APP’s Bio Container for take-away quick service food products. Graphic arts industry converter Promasa now offers just-in-time custom converting of APP’s Sinarvanda folding box board. The operation, based in Mexico City, will convert products for retail packaging.

All pulp and fiber used in the making of APP’s paper products are certified by PEFC, the world’s leading forest certification organization. Only products that utilize sustainable procurement of wood and paper-based goods are awarded this certification.

‘Our clients are continuously looking for ways to offer their customers a greater selection of eco-friendly paper options without sacrificing quality or effectiveness,’ said Anthony Atamimi, Latin America sales director for Asia Pulp & Paper. ‘We’re excited to announce our expanded partnerships with these key industry leaders that will make sustainable paper products more accessible in the Mexican market.’

Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) is a trade name for a group of pulp and paper manufacturing companies in Indonesia and China. APP is responsible for delivering quality products to meet the growing global demand for tissue, packaging and paper, with an annual combined pulp, paper, packaging product and converting capacity of over 25 million metric tons per annum.
