Because that’s when a panel of experts will convene at PEERS 2017 (Session 35) to discuss and answer individual questions from the onsite audience, as well as via Twitter and phone.

"Efficient lime kiln operations are key to successful recovery and recausticizing," notes Panel Moderator Thanh Trung from FITNIR Analyzers, Inc. "Kiln is one of the highest consumers of fossil fuel and, with recausticizing operations, often are bottlenecks for pulp mills. Our panelists will address lime kiln operating issues, and during the Q&A, answer key operational questions.  Please prepare your questions and get them answered by the expert panelists."

Participating on the panel are subject matter experts: Doug Barbour, Harmac Pacific; Henric Dernegård, Södra Cell Mönsterås; Glenn M. Hanson III, Kiln Flame Systems (KFS); Ray Leary, Houghton Cascade Holdings, LLC; and Honghi Tran, Ph.D., University of Toronto. Topics they will discuss include:

• Chain configuration and design
• Residual carbonate testing and best practices
• Lime-water interactions
• Minimizing deadload and maximizing CE
• Kiln control strategies.
